International Conclave on Promoting Travel & Tourism in Turbulent Times, New Delhi, 2010

An International Conclave has been planned to coincide with the TTF&OTM Delhi, in February 2010. The theme Promoting Travel and Tourism in Turbulent Times is designed to provide a timely forum to discuss and learn from each other.

This decade has seen turbulence after turbulence, affecting economy in general and travel & tourism in particular. The one day seminar is designed to open the issues for discussing and learning from each other, from a practitioner’s perspective.

Panel discussions are planned on the following topics:

Promoting Travel and Tourism in areas afflicted by social unrest
This session will discuss topics like: ‘Has terror/war on terror created permanent turbulence that travel and tourism marketers must factor?’, ‘Internal Conflicts and Travel and Tourism Marketing’ and ‘Perception and Reality: selling and sending back safe and satisfied’.

Promoting Travel and Tourism in Emerging Markets, and in Recession
It will analyse how to deliver value in economic constraints. Is price game the only realistic response in the present scenario? How to stretch marketing budget in emerging markets; what should be short-term and long-term strategies and tactics, how to maximize return on marketing investment etc.

Countering the effect of Health Scares and Pandemics

The world of travel & tourism appears to be besieged by one health scare after another. This panel will discuss topics like how to overcome perceptions, balance health and marketing concerns. It will aim at providing a marketers toolkit for fighting outbreaks

Successful Image Building and Rebuilding – Case Studies
 
This session will focus on how to avoid and get out of image traps. Case studies will be presented by NTOs that have successfully built a positive image or have turned around.

Changing Role of NTOs in the Turbulent World

The panels will be followed by a town hall meeting to discuss the changing Role of NTOs in the turbulent world. Case studies will be presented by NTOs to arrive at a set of Dos and Don’ts, for sharing of experiences and best practices.

Speakers will include senior tourism professionals representing various National Tourism Organisation, International travel trade associations, other marketing and media experts.
